Congratulations on your decision to get married! Marriage is a righteous and holy union created by God, fulfilling His plan and design for one man and one woman to be joined in a lifelong relationship with God at the center. As a church, we desire to uphold and support couples as they pursue God’s plan for their lives and their marriage according to His Word. Scripture references include Genesis 2:18-24; Proverbs 18:22; Malachi 2:13-16; Matthew 19:4-6; 1 Corinthians 7:1-40; 2 Corinthians 6:14; Ephesians 5:21-33; Hebrews 13:4
To be legally married in Ontario, you must obtain a Marriage Licence or have your wedding banns published in a church service for at least two weeks before the wedding. Wedding banns are free but require that both individuals are regular members and that neither person has been previously married. A marriage licence costs about $125 and can be obtained at a town hall.
Costs for Weddings include:
Two hundred dollars for facility rental, which is waived for regular attenders of Emmanuel.
A suggested donation of $100 for musicians.
A suggested donation of $100 for the tech person.
A suggested donation of $75 for the custodian.
A suggested honorarium of $200 for the pastor officiating.
Our policy at Emmanuel is that everyone who is married by an Emmanuel staff person must agree to our pre-marriage mentoring program. This includes several sessions with one of our appointed marriage mentor couples. For more information, click here.
