About

Emmanuel's Mission Statement

Relying on the enabling presence and power of God, our mission is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, and to teach, baptize, and disciple unto maturity in Christ.

Our strategy and vision for discipleship is to see everyone Worship, Grow, and Serve. We want each person to worship on Sunday mornings corporately as the Body of Christ. We desire to see everyone at Emmanuel involved in a small group or ministry group during the week, where they can grow in their walk with Jesus by going deeper into God’s Word and building biblical relationships with other believers. We also want to see every believer at Emmanuel serve God within the Body of Christ and in our community.

Our Statement of Faith

THE BIBLE

We believe in the divine inspiration of Holy Scripture (2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:16-17) and in the Bible as the complete, inerrant Word of God (Deuteronomy 4:2). It is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

GOD

We believe in one God (Deuteronomy 6:4), Creator of all, Holy, Sovereign, Eternal, and existent in three co-equal personalities (Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19). He is the self-existent One (Exodus 3:14) and the source of all life (Genesis 1:20-27).

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that God the Son became man (John 1:14; Philippians 2:5-7), being born of a virgin (Matthew 1:18). He lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15) and died a substitutionary death (Hebrews 2:14; Hebrews 10:10-14), was bodily resurrected (John 21:14), and is now risen (1 Timothy 3:16; Luke 24:46,51) and engaged in a mediatory ministry (1 Timothy 2:5).

We expect His imminent return (John 14:3; 1 Thessalonians 4:17) and believe that all judgment is committed unto Him (John 5:22,27), for all power and authority are His (Matthew 28:18; 1 John 4:4).

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the absolute deity and essential personality of the Holy Spirit, who convinces of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and who indwells each believer (Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 6:19) to regenerate (Titus 3:5), seal (Ephesians 1:13-14), guide (Romans 8:14), and teach believers (John 14:26).

He reveals Jesus Christ in us so that we may enjoy His gifts and use them appropriately (Galatians 5:22-25; 1 Corinthians 12:1-20; John 14:15-26).

SATAN

We believe that Satan exists as an evil personality and rules over fallen angels (Revelation 12:7-9). He is to be resisted (1 Peter 5:8-9) by submitting to God (James 4:7).

MAN

We believe that man was created in the image of God and that our first parents, by disobedience to God’s express command, sinned. As a result, the judgment of death was passed on to all people (Romans 5:12). Thus, the whole world rests under condemnation, wrath, and curse (Romans 3:14,19; Galatians 3:10; Romans 5:18; John 3:36).

The entire nature of man — mentally, morally, spiritually, and physically — is sadly affected (Ephesians 4:18; Jeremiah 17:9-10; 2 Corinthians 4:4), so that the natural man has an aversion to God (Romans 8:7). This leads constantly downward, from which course mankind is totally unable to free himself or herself (Romans 7:18,23).

SALVATION

We believe that personal salvation is a divine gift (Ephesians 2:8-9) leading to repentance and a new life (2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 12:2; 2 Peter 3:9), affecting intellect, will, and emotions through faith in the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sakes.

By His voluntary death on the cross (John 10:17-18), He redeemed us with His blood (Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 9:14). God accepted that sacrifice, raised our Lord from the grave (Romans 4:24-25), and placed Him on His throne above.

Angels

We believe that there are angels, that they are created beings of God, and that they do His service (Hebrews 1:13-14; Nehemiah 9:6; Psalm 91:11; Exodus 23:20-21).

Last Things

We believe in the personal, bodily, and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ to this earth (Acts 1:10-11; Titus 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). We believe in the resurrection of the just and the unjust (Revelation 20:12), in the eternal blessedness of the righteous (Revelation 21:7), and in the eternal punishment of the wicked (Revelation 21:8).

THE LOCAL CHURCH

We believe that a local church is a company of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, called out of this world and voluntarily associated with each other for instruction from God’s Word, the Bible. It is set apart from the world under the Lordship of Christ and designed for the mutual edification of its members through the use and development of their divinely awarded gifts. We believe that its officers are pastors/elders and deacons, and that their offices, under the direction of Christ, are responsible for the spiritual and general welfare of the members.
